OUR PROJECTS

We are currently funding four projects, two of which we have planned for financial support for several years to come. That is the midwifery education program in Mali and the school home in Nepal. This is to ensure that the operations can continue to be carried out while the organization searches for solution for local long-term financing.

The other two projects have received one-time donations to carry out specific construction. That is the hospital in Mali and the water and sanitation project in Ghana.

KMCH - THE CHILDREN OF NEPAL

AT THE BOARDING SCHOOL CHILDREN GET FOOD, CLOTHES, AN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR HYGIENE, AND A BED TO SLEEP IN.

Humla is one of the poorest districts in the poor country of Nepal. In this area the organization Kailash Mansarovar Children Of Humla – KMCH runs a boarding school. This boarding makes it possible for children of vulnerable families to be able to go to school, since the distances to their homes are great and the roads are non-existent or very bad.

Education is an important part of the way out of poverty and a key in building sustainable societies. Learning to read and write gives children an independent life and increases the chances of good health and future income. So supporting the children and give them the opportunity to educate themsleves is equal to giving them opportunities for a better future.
With contributions from kind people and caring comapnies. we can increse our impact and give hope for a brighter future for even more children in poor parts of the world.

BACKGROUND

KMCH is a local and democratic organization that started in Nepal at 2007. KMCH runs a boarding house in the village of Yangar, . In 2019 there were 67 children living at the boarding home: 41 girls and 26 boys. They were then between the ages of 6 and 19. The children attends a government school in the nearby village of Yalbang, which i situated on the main road between Humla, the capital Simikot and the village of Yangar. The boarding house also care for two gardens. The harvests from these provide important vitamins and variety to the otherwise rather one-sided diet.

KMCH has a clear environmental profile and all projects aim to promote sustainable development in the district. The association cooperates with with the village council of Yangar, the Namkha Khyung Dzong monastery, which is the cultural center of the region, with the school of Yalbang village and with the regional authorities of Humla.

CURRENT STATUS

The needs are great in this poor and disadvantaged region. What they need to continue the work for a better way of life is support in the form of money and expertise in various areas.

KMCH's activities are today largely dependent on donations from the Familjen Olofssons Foundation. With your help we can continue this financial support for a long time.

CARE FOR MALI

TRAINING OF MIDWIVES HELPS TENS OF THOUSANDS OF RURAL WOMEN.

Today, ten million Malians live in rural areas. Many of them, around 65-70%, lack basic government healthcare. Mali has one of the highest levels of infant mortality in the world. Having a trained midwife nearby is therefore vital.

BACKGROUND

Our involvement in Mali began with the foundation sponsoring a midwifery education program that was started jointly by the Malian health organization AASM and the Swedish organization Care For Mali. The first fully trained midwives were examined during the summer of 2020, and the next class is in full study right now.

CURRENT STATUS

The need for good healthcare is huge in Mali. We are working hard to continue donating money to Care For Mali, and enable the training of more midwives. But we also wish to be able to expand our commitment and provide the trained midwives with the right equipment when working in the countryside. Among other things, they need a stethoscope, delivery kit and portable EKG to measure the baby's heart rate.

In addition to the midwife program, we have donated money for the construction of a brand new hospital in Bamako. Further more, we want to set up local small health clinics in the countryside where the trained midwives can work.

We hope you will help us continue our work and enable more midwives to be trained and save lives.
