HELP A PREGNANT WOMAN
In Mali, many women and babies die in childbirth, as a result of lack of medical care.
​
Today, ten million Malians live in rural areas. Many of them, around 65-70%, lack basic government healthcare. Infant mortality is high and many women die in childbirth.
Having a trained midwife nearby is therefore vital as infectious diseases and complications in connection with childbirth are the biggest causes of death.
​
Through the organization Care for Mali, we have financed the construction of a hospital in Bamako and started a midwifery education center there. So far, two classes of midwives have been trained, and are ready to help thousands of pregnant women. We will continue to provide grants for the hospital and the school, as the midwives still are in lack of some equipment. They need stethoscope, delivery kit and portable EKG when they work in rural areas.
